You are all more than welcome to come and join the Edgbaston Kestrels we provide a safe and fun environment where young players from the age of 4 to 14 (School year reception and up!) can learn and enjoy hockey.

From school year 10 the children move up to Adult hockey but we also run matches for U16s for girls as Edgbaston, Tier 1 & Tier 2 matches for U14s and U16s, and tier 2 matches U18s for boys as EBS (a collaboration between Edgbaston, Beacon and Old Sils)

All our sessions are open to beginners, so no matter the age you are more than welcome to begin your hockey adventure!

All that is required is the enthusiasm to want to get active and find out about hockey. Anyone can come along and join in a few taster sessions before deciding whether hockey and Edgbaston Kestrels is right for them and we can often provide hockey sticks for trial sessions.

Don’t forget your shin pads and mouth guard, you will NOT BE ALLOWED to train or play without them.

Our sessions are all mixed, and the location is King Edwards High School for Girls, Park Vale Drive (off Bristol Road) and structured as:

Timings for 2026/27:

• U8s - Year 3 and below (9.30-10.30),
• U10s - Year 4&5 - (9.30-11:00),
• U12s/U14s - Year 6,7,8 & 9 - (09.30-11:00),

• 1st term: 6th September through to 13th December (two weekend break over half term)
• 2nd term: 10th January through to 21st March (two weekend break over half term)

Subscriptions are an annual payment of £110 for all juniors (even those playing adult hockey that are u18 at the start of September). For Saturday Badgers matches and adult games there is an aditional cost of £5 per game.
