After slow starts in the last few matches I asked for a fast start and to take it to them, in a game we really needed to win. So, when Tom drives down the right, beats a defender and crosses it for JD to shoot home after 90 seconds, I’m pretty pleased.

A couple of minutes later DC releases Tom again down the right from a free hit, he beats his man and crosses, JD is there again 2-0. We continue to take it to them, driven on by an exuberant and energetic midfield (Tom, Chris and both the Harrys). It’s working well down the right but for a change we go left and Zain does really well to beat his man, takes it to the byline and dribbles along the line towards the goal. He then does well to pull it back for DC to squeeze it in with a reverse stick flick. There is still time before half-time for JD to complete his hat-trick with some persistence close to goal.

As expected, Worcs tighten up and reorganise at the break but on the second phase from a short, the ball bobbles on the edge of the D and DC strikes it home, reverse stick.

Worcs start to come into it a little now with a bit of pace down their right. Mark Andrews in goal is needed to make a couple of good saves but is beaten by a 2nd (or 3rd) shot following a short. We continue to attack though and with a bit more composure in the D, we could have gone on to score more, efforts being mishit or just sliding past the post.

Good performances all over the pitch, an assured defence as the base for an energetic midfield and attacking performance. The young ones providing the energy and legs and the old boys knocking in the goals ?.
All the youngsters played well but I particularly note Max’s energy from Right Back and HarryB adding another assured performance at left midfield - despite being pushed to the ground at one stage by a frustrated Worcs player.

It’s a shame we don’t have a match next Saturday as following a win like this, I think we are all keen to play again.

Good to see ex-Edg’ Smith N Smith (Vince Smith) playing against us and making some good stops and clearances whilst marshalling their defence.

MoM: JD - early goals settled us down and put us on the front foot from 90seconds onwards.
